“Driven By a Motor” is a visual poem contemplating my own fears concerning mortality. When shown, the poem is projected onto a hanging sheet of woven cotton fabric. This artwork is part of the series After Everything. Composed of handwritten, stream-ofconscious writings, text fades in and out, appearing and disappearing. The result is both rhythmic and disorienting. To try to catch all the text is an intentionally a frenetic race, and part of the intended viewing experience. Ultimately, though, the poem should be an exercise in accepting loss. A person is not intended to read every word, but to accept and focus on the moment that their eyes happen to drift to.
